How to organize a small kitchen workspace
You’re probably in the kitchen trying to put away all of your used or dirty dishes to make room for planning your next meal and just can’t find an efficient way to organize your counter. There are many problems with this, especially if the kitchen is smaller. Luckily, though, we’re here to help you figure out how to organize small kitchen countertops!
We have a wide range of kitchen organization ideas to help you free up much-needed countertop space before your next meal and make your kitchen feel more homey and user-friendly overall. There are lots of ideas to choose from and we’ve tried to put together some of our favorites here to really show you what can be done!
Once you’ve done a few of these, you’ll find that your kitchen feels like a completely different room, and cooking and cleaning will never be so easy again!
1. Dish rack
So the first product we want to mention is a fairly well-known one if you look at it in a more traditional sense. You will often find a dish rack in the dishwasher that you pull out to empty and unload your dishes before and after the wash cycle. However, this is not their only use. We bet you didn’t know this, but you can have a dish rack built into a kitchen cabinet to save space too.
There’s nothing worse than having to stack your plates and glasses in your cupboard and worrying that you might shatter or drop them if they aren’t stacked properly, or that there won’t be enough space between the shelves to fit them comfortably stacked on top of each other. The dish rack is designed to prevent all of these problems. Also, it will help to clear all the unnecessary clutter and will keep the kitchen counter organized. You can simply pull out the tray and put your dishes in or out without them touching!
2. Pull-out basket
Another great way to make organizing your kitchen easier is to add a pull-out basket in one of your drawers. It works similarly to the dish rack, except the drawer has holes in it. Use the basket and it’s a great place to store your tools and utensils that more often clutter up valuable workspace – like a knife block or a cup for your frying utensils.
You’ll notice how different your kitchen can look once you have one of these installed and filled. You will be blown away by the free storage space on your counter space now available! We cannot emphasize enough how useful they have been to us.
3. Lazy Susan basket
Another unique variation of the dish rack is the Lazy Susan basket. This is another great way to place and stack your bowls, plates, and glasses on a tray that rotates when the cabinet door is open. So you don’t have to bend over in uncomfortable positions or reach to the back of a cupboard to grab your favorite bowl, the Lazy Susan basket swings out when opened to display all your kitchen utensils.
You’ll be surprised at how much space you can save with one of these baskets compared to regularly stacking plates and bowls on a shelf. But don’t just take our word for it, order one yourself and have it installed to see! They are so spacious and offer so much space that it would be foolish not to try them out!
4. Pantry system
A pantry system is another dead-simple way to organize your small kitchen, helping to group things that need to be kept out of the work area until they’re needed. Most people often have pantries installed in long cabinets or above the kitchen countertop and they are really a great way to store essentials.
The storage space and organization you get once you get a pantry system up and running is second to none. You’ll never find anything like it. There you can store all sorts of things that need to be taken care of. You can think of it as a refrigerator, except for things that don’t need to be refrigerated – like spices, some sauces, and wines!
A pantry may not seem like an obvious choice when it comes to organizing kitchen counters, but once you have one, you’ll understand how important it can be to you!
5. Pull down shelf
Now you might think of this as a nifty little thing, but it’s just as useful as anything else we’ve included on this list and you shouldn’t shy away from it! Often you will have to tiptoe around or pull out a stepladder to safely retrieve a plate or glass from the top shelf above your workstation.
A kitchen lift lifting system allows you to pull out the entire contents of the shelf from the bottom for easy access and completely eliminates the fear of accidentally spilling or dropping something from the shelf that shouldn’t be dropped. You’ll save yourself a lifetime of stress and hassle by having one of these installed.
Key Takeaways
As you can see, we have numerous options available to help you clean up and organize your worktop. We value a clean and safe kitchen environment and we are sure you do too. So be sure to check these out and try some of them out! You will truly be surprised at how much more enjoyable your entire kitchen experience will be once you do even one thing from this list.
Of course, we’ve only just scratched the surface of some of the things available to you, but there are a lot more organizational things out there! We’ve just picked out some of our best and most trusted to show you how easy getting organized can be, and we hope you’ll give it a try for yourself!
